Our Story...
Hello and Welcome, to La Dolce Vita Nubian & Lamancha Dairy Goats Website!
"Where every goat has a name and everyone has a sweet life"
like the stories of many, our adventure started out as small 4-H/FFA projects, originally with my two adult sisters. Now I Shanley, the youngest of the sisters, fell in love with goats which that “small 4-H herd” soon turned into something more...a Passion! And am now actively showing my Nubian & Lamancha and now Experimental/Grade Dairy Goat herd throughout Northern CA.
We are located in beautiful Shingle Springs in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California. My herd originally started with Nigerian Dwarf’s and Nubians but felt the Small breed was not for me so we just stuck with the larger breeds for show, milk and soap. We have been raising Nubian Dairy Goats since 2000, Lamanchas since 2017 and Grades since 2018 We recently purchased great show quality doe's and bucks from champion lines in California. We are a clean herd! And negative in CAE, CL, Johnes and G6S.
We strive to breed for a goat that is strong in general appearance being long and level over the top line, and strong on their feet and legs. As well as consistent and strong mammary systems that are high and wide in the rear and nicely attached with strong smooth fore udders but that also milk down to nothing. We also breed for the beautiful Nubian and Lamancha breed character about the head.
We are super excited to be attending our first ADGA National show in 2019!
Herd health is very important to us as we feed only the highest quality California Alfalfa hay year round as well as Triple Mix and Grass hay during show and breeding seasons. Kids at weaning age are put on a medicated pellet feed with Black Oil sunflower seeds, Yearlings get a Purina goat chow and black oil sunflower seed mix. Milking doe's get a 16% dairy ration mixed with Purina Goat chow and Black oil sunflower seeds. Too insure that each goat gets what they need to thrive we separate the goats by age group so they are sure to get what they need. Kids are raised on a CAE prevention program and fed free choice milk, until about 4 months of age. All animals are given BoSe and CD-T shots twice a year, and wormed twice a year in the fall and spring.
We hope you enjoy exploring our website, and beautiful dairy goats!
